Role Purpose

Spectainer is looking for a Global Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Manager to develop the monitoring framework for the performance of Spectainer’s product suite. The role will take ownership of  M&R technical advisory, cost management, performance measurement and quality management. The Global M&R Manager will build cross-functional working relationship with the Product Development and Fleet Management teams as well as vendors and suppliers to ensure systematic and efficient execution of M&R processes.

The role is a key member of the Technical Team and will develop Spectainer’s M&R policy using data collected during the SEA Trials Program. The ideal candidate will bring a vast knowledge in industrial standards, including IMO/CSC/ACEP. In partnership with the Legal & Compliance team, the role will ensure policies also align with any local safety standard. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in developing M&R manuals, inspection criteria and repair tariffs for new-to-market products.

The Global M&R Manager will provide analysis, advice and/or expertise to enhancing existing products to optimize operational efficiency, reduce costs and enhance safety requirements. Additional responsibilities include conducting essential durability assessments and testing to ensure products meet the useful lifecycle before mass manufacturing as well as supporting and/or conducting onsite commissioning as well as other projects or assignments as directed by Company. This could include providing support to cross-functional project management, training, marketing, research & development, production and operations.

Role Accountabilities

  • Be the M&R Management Authority and subject matter expert for Spectainer products.
  • Develop industry & legislative safety standard compliant M&R manuals, inspection criteria and repair tariff.
  • In partnership with the Technical Manager, assess all OEM parts and components durability to ensure the components/parts able to meet the optimum useful life, reduce maintenance liabilities and or replacement expenditure.
  • Provide cross-functions support to ensure all products are successfully implemented and commercialised.

Your day-to-day duties will typically consist of:

  • Manage the spare parts supply chain to ensure effective quality and cost management. Leading corporate improvement projects related to product and technical policies.
  • Provide M&R support on Spectainer product, including technical consultation, regulatory advice, physical container survey and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with regional operations ensuring products are conforming to local and international regulatory requirement.
  • Evaluating cost-efficiency and proactively looking for areas of improvement.
  • Managing global M&R costs and turn-time performance by depots and address any inaccuracy repair expenditures and inefficient of repair cycle, respectively.
  • In collaboration with the Technical Manager, conducting regular production audits to ensure products are produced in accordance with required standards.
  • In collaboration with the Technical Manager, conducting regular depot audits to ensure products are maintained in accordance with required standards.
  • Conduct internal and external training, including training the depots, custom officers, inspection companies and customers.
  • Support service team to ensure that M&R meets the requirements of all stakeholders.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in ISO types of containers, operations and technical matters. Experience with collapsible or foldable containers would be advantageous.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Rigorous, detail-oriented, critical thinker with great problem-solving skills, and strong ability to take initiative and be proactive.
  • Sense of urgency and time management.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with comfort in ambiguity & rapid change.
  • Open to direction and committed to get the job done.
  • Strong in operational cost analysis, cost management, control, measuring and monitoring.
  • 5-8 years experiences in managing container operations, container production, automation gantry crane or heavy materials handling equipment M&R.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Fixed Annual Salary: $85,000 – $100,000

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
